You are not scattered. You are just wide.

You are not scattered. You are just wide.

The modern world is obsessed with specialization. We are told to choose a niche, to drill down, to become the absolute expert in one tiny, specific thing. But what if you are someone who sees connections? What if you are built to translate between different worlds?

The niche trap.

For years, my multi-hyphenate clients came to me feeling broken. They thought their diverse interests—creative writing, operational design, psychology, business development—were a sign of a lack of focus. They felt scattered. But scatter is just connection that hasn't been organized yet. When you try to force a horizontal mind into a vertical ladder, you don't get focus; you get friction.

Translators are rare.

True innovation doesn't happen inside the silos; it happens in the spaces between them. The people who can speak design to engineers, and business to creatives, are the ones who actually build the future. If you are a horizontal thinker, stop trying to pick a lane. Your value isn't in your depth in one area—it is in your ability to connect the dots across many.

"A bridge is only useful because it connects two separate shores. Do not try to become the shore when you are meant to be the span."

Want to explore how these structures operate in your own professional and personal life? The Babcock Method is designed to uncover and rewrite these cycles.
